Abstract

This article examines the linguistic and cultural dimensions of traditional nursery rhymes as an enduring element of English folklore. Nursery rhymes (NRs) have been a vital part of oral tradition, blending simplicity with profound cultural and historical narratives. Through examples such as "Humpty Dumpty" and "London Bridge is Falling Down," this study explores their role in linguistic development, societal reflection, and cultural preservation. The article highlights their structural features, symbolic meanings, and pedagogical potential while situating them in historical and folkloristic contexts.
